The computer is perhaps the most important part of any home recording setup. And it needs to have good configuration (fast processor and loads of RAM). Besides the computer you need several equipment (hardware as well as software) that will help you capture notes into the computer, edit/process the notes, and finally output the music.

However, keep in mind that just getting the necessary equipment will not help you create great music. You need to learn how to use them, learn from others, and over time you will get better at it.

What Is audio branding and how can it help you?

When it comes to sound branding, you'll hear terms such as audio logo creation, sound identity, & sound signature being used (and they all basically mean the same thing and are used to achieve the same purpose.

Marketing companies have been using the concept of associating a sound signature to a brand for some time now, and have been quite successful at enhancing the image of several brands.

What is It?
It is a new kind of discipline in sound design. It is related to brands communication and marketing strategies. Of course, it does serve several purposes:

brand identification

brand appropriation

brand image

Examples
The easiest example, something that probably everybody can relate to, is the example of Mac/Windows sound identity.

Both are huge & successful computer brands, but they both have their own peculiar sound signature when you startup their computers, something I'm pretty sure you can identify.

That's precisely it's purpose; you can now identify a brand/product based on the associated audio. You can name the brand just on the basis of their signature audio.

There's more to it
In general, creating a sound signature is just a small part of a much bigger task, and that is sound branding.

That doesn't only involve designing a super catchy jingle; there's usually more to it.

It usually goes with a complete sound chart, with selected audio tracks fitting the brand image, and at times a sound library is used for emotional branding.
